CONSORTIUM FOR GERONTOLOGICAL EDUCATION

October 28, 2011

Dear Members of the Consortium for Gerontological Education,

Happy Fall! We hope this letter finds you well.
The Consortium is at a critical juncture and we need your help and valuable input.

As the Executive Committee met to think about the next year, we realize several things:

*There are currently many options for professional education available in the community.

*Networking opportunities also are available.

*Our administrative person (Becky Sullivan) is no longer able to continue in her capacity, therefore if the Consortium is to continue there is a void to be filled.

As a result of the above and after several discussions, it is the Executive Committee’s recommendation to dissolve the Consortium. It is however, your group! We need to hear from you, our membership. Perhaps you would like the Consortium to continue? If so, we are in need of people to make that happen. A vote will be taken by members on 11/17/11.

To that end, we invite you to a Membership meeting on November 17, 2011 at Middlewoods of Farmington at 12noon. Please RSVP today (crhea@umh.org) if you can come. Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter.

Most sincerely,

Carlene Rhea
For the Executive Committee

Note from our Chairperson (featured in our 2011 Newsletter):

Greetings to all!

I hope this note finds everyone happy, healthy and surrounded by meaningful work on behalf of the Geriatric population.  The Consortium exists to be a resource to y ou, professionals in the field of aging.  It is our intent to provide interesting and relevant educational experiences.  Certainly it is by being educated that our minds expand and our skills are sharpened.  Our lunchtime meetings, so graciously hosted by many communities in the greater Hartford region, are wonderful times to network with friends and colleagues, both old and new.

Please remember that this is your Consortium!  Your leadership team is always open to your ideas, suggestions and concerns.

Have a fabulous year ahead.  I look forward to seeing you at our March meeting.

Sincerely,

Carlene C. Rhea
